At FaithMinders & Saving Grace Enterprises, we are committed to helping others - giving our brethren a “cool glass of water”. Hurricane Katrina hit our brothers and sisters in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama - and they need help now and for many months - possibly years.
Remember, the need is great and ongoing. Many of these people have lost everything they have worked for. They must start over, and rebuild their entire lives. That won’t happen overnight. When the news coverage of the devastation dies down, and the country and world go back to their regular lives, these people will still need help.
As part of my commitment to our brethren in the affected areas, I have decided to take immediate, two-fold action. First, I encourage you to donate to at least one of the following relief organizations.
Next, As the owner of Saving Grace Enterprises, FaithMinders, and Legacy Journals, I have committed to donating 20% of all profits from sales between September 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005 to the below relief organizations. If you prefer one of the relief organizations over another, simply let us know during the checkout process - and we will mark the donation from your order to go to your chosen charity.
Please help.

UMCOR - While this is a relief organization affiliated with a particular denomination, I highly encourage donations to the The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) because 100% of all donations are used to help those in need.
UMCOR is the not-for-profit international humanitarian aid organization of The United Methodist Church, active in many parts of the world bringing hope, providing relief from hunger and disasters, and teaching peace.

Be sure to include the Advance # and/or the name of the emergency on the memo line of the check written to UMCOR.
For credit card donations, call 1-800-554-8583. UMCOR’s administrative costs are funded primarily by undesignated sources, especially One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS), which allows UMCOR to use 100% of donations to help those in need.

How can you help?
Whether you simply donate to one of these organizations, or whether you order at one of my companies, and donate indirectly through the donations we are making to these organizations - the most important thing is that you donating in some way.
This sort of devastation makes us feel helpless.
- Donating through one of these organizations or placing an order through one of my companies, and knowing that 20% of the profits from your order will go to one of these organizations is a way you can help.
- If you are near the areas where the evacuees are, you can give your time by volunteering to help in any way you can.
- If you are able, donate blood. There is a great need.
- Finally,
at some point, tangible goods will be needed. If you can give clothes, equipment, toys, etc, please do. Dig deep, most of us have more than we need - and these people don’t have anything - with holidays fast approaching.
Please keep your eyes open to ways you can assist the thousands in need.
